The JDPC Archdiocese of Lagos in collaboration with the Festac, Apapa, Satetlite Deanery organized the annual International Day For Elimination of Violence against Women that was marked at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Coker, Ori-Iganmu, Lagos with the theme: “THE FAMILY AND GENDER EQUALITY” and the Sub-theme as: “EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION & GENDER TOLERANCE IN THE FAMILY”
The program featured three different aspects which include:
- Seminar on starting small and growing big.
- Empowerment of six indigent women.
- Talk on effective communication and Tolerance in the family.
A Keynote Address was given by the Deputy Director, Mr Joe Nkamuke, representing the Executive Coordinator, Rev Fr. Raymond Anoliefo, where he opined that instead of talking of Equality, humanity should be addressing Equity. In view of this, he condemned people who cheat and maltreat maids and servants.
The Seminar on starting small and growing big was anchored by Mr. Arewa, a distinguished Banker and Business Development Consultant. The attendees – visitors and other JDPC members, were the beneficiaries of our Empowerment Programme . Also, six (6) indigent women were empowered with financial grants to enhance their trades.
Also an impactful talk on Effective Communication and Tolerance in the family was given by Dr. (Mrs) Celine Njoku, a fellow of National Association of Nigerian Counselors. She talked of the need for effective communication and tolerance amongst members of the family which should be positively shown on them as they relate with each other.
The program was well attended and covered by the Media, it was highly impactful and engaging.
